Having had lead roles in productions including Calamity Jane, RENT and Caisleáin Óir, Mary is no stranger to adapting to character and style. Mary has been a member of the Letterkenny Music and Drama Society, Letterkenny Pantomime Society and Greasepaint Productions in Buncrana. She has performed in countless cabarets and variety shows throughout the country.
A skilled soprano, Mary has also participated in choirs including the St Eunan’s Cathedral Choir, Amici, and St Bartholomew’s Choir in London. She was the director of the St Eunan’s Children’s Choir for a number of years. As part of a combined choir, she performed in Mendelssohn's Elijah and Haydn’s The Creation. A highlight for Mary was when she toured throughout southern India with Belfast based company Toccata Musical Productions as a chorister in a 2011 production of Nostalgia, where she was mentored by renowned vocal coach Judith Sheridan.
When not performing, Mary is creative in all aspects of theatre production. Mary has a BA Hons in Design, and she has a wealth of experience in set design and building, costume making and dressing, stage management and lighting. Mary also enjoys song writing, and writing comedy for the stage.
It has always been a dream of Mary’s to continue in her mother’s footsteps and to bring the Rainbow Theatre Group back to life for a new generation. The Rainbow Theatre Group is an important and enduring part of Kathleen Ruddy’s legacy, and Mary is now delighted at starting this next chapter in the Rainbow story. She is looking forward to welcoming new talent and providing a platform for young people to shine on stage!
